TADEA EVENT BEATS CUMBRIA FLOODS
Delegates braved the torrential rain that has hit Cumbria to find out more about the link between energy efficiency, energy advice and corporate social responsibility at an event held in Kendal.
TADEA Limited, the not-for-profit energy advice and associated services company for the North of England, hosted the event at the Castle Green Hotel, on the outskirts of Kendal, on Friday. (Nov 20)
About 30 senior representatives from local authorities, housing associations and community groups across Cumbria and Lancashire made their way to the seminar.
Incredibly, just a small number of other intended delegates had to miss the event, deemed a huge success by those present, due to the severe and exceptional flooding that hit the area.
Those that did mange to get there heard presentations from a number of TADEA representatives, including Chairman Phil Hughes, Chief Executive Officer Paul Jackson, Business Development Manager Dan Ludgate and Strategic Manager for Energy Saving Trust Contracts Alan Jones.
TADEA was formed in the North East of England in 2002 and has been operating in the North West for just over one year, mainly through the management of the Cumbria and Lancashire Energy Saving Trust advice centre, based in Carlisle.
The company also specialises in running a variety of energy efficiency schemes, consultancy contracts and manages large consortia projects in partnership with local councils, health authorities and housing providers, amongst others, to alleviate fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions from homes, public buildings and business premises.
Paul Jackson said: “The event was a great success. Considering the monsoon-like conditions that hit Cumbria the day and night before, we were both happy and surprised that so many people made the effort to attend.
“TADEA Limited committed its seven most senior decision makers and in return received massive commitment from those present. This reflects the importance of climate change and carbon reduction in today’s society, but more importantly the absolute desire from our key decision makers to have a positive impact on all our futures wherever possible.”
Chairman Phil Hughes added: “When we heard that Kendal itself was flooded and saw the horrific pictures of other parts of Cumbria on the television news, we wondered what was in store for us, but that famous British Bulldog spirit shone through yet again.”
