tadea driver training centre
Our driver training centre is set up to provide training for individuals and companies involved in the motor vehicle, road haulage and passenger transport industries.
The training centre has fully equipped classroom facilities, with experienced and qualified driving instructors, all delivering training courses designed to help improve driver behaviour. The range of courses cover:
- classroom-based training,
- state of the art vehicle simulators
- and in-vehicle training
These courses will give both newly qualified and experienced drivers confidence and awareness of their driving skills and the vehicles they drive.
The facility will provide cutting edge training tailored to the needs of learners and organisations. These simulators will be able to train drivers of internal combustion engine, low carbon vehicles and heavy goods vehicles on safe and fuel-efficient driving techniques. The training package can, for example, prepare drivers for adverse weather conditions, familiarise people with electric vehicles and update drivers with changes in technologies and legislation.
Where is the tadea driver training centre?
The training centre is located at the Gateshead College Skills Academy for Manufacturing and Innovation with access to the performance track originally built by Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK Ltd.
It is ideally situated in a central part of the North East of England in Washington. Our centre is easily accessible from the A1 and A19 and has other good public transport links.
Benefits of our training courses
Save fuel costs and lower carbon emissions
Research trials conducted by the Transport Research Laboratory for the Department for Transport proved that simulator training can bring about a mean improvement in on-road fuel efficiency of 15.7%.
Reduce accidents
The tadea driver training centre allows people to adopt a fuel efficient and safer driving style with less harsh acceleration and braking, and helps drivers to develop improved hazard awareness skills and better planning. Tests have proved that, following driver training, fleet drivers witnessed a 48% reduction in accidents the following year. For organisations, this can help reduce their insurance costs.
What courses are available?
Our courses are available to both learner and experienced drivers, and organisations that have a neeor duty to provide training for their drivers. We can train drivers for virtually any type of motor vehicle - from ordinary cars and light goods vans to large articulated lorries.
We can prepare drivers for:
-
Defensive driving in adverse and treacherous driving conditions
-
Fuel efficient driving
-
Advanced driving
-
Speed awareness programmes
-
Driver Certificate of Professional Competence
-
‘Safe behind the wheel’ programme for people who have not been able to drive for a long period of time due to illness or other circumstances, as well as training for the over-70s.
There is also an innovative electric vehicle driving training programme. We can offer to help individuals and fleet drivers to get the most out of the use of such vehicles. The programme will demonstrate the software and systems for charging, managing and monitoring the performance of electric vehicles. In conjunction with Gateshead College, we are able to offer a maintenance course as an added option.
