Our Vision
Past
TADEA was set up to bring free high quality energy advice services to the region and to provide focused project management to increase the uptake of insulation in people’s homes.
Our original mission statement was:
'To provide a customer focused, free and impartial advice service to all households in the region and to promote effective action on sustainable energy.'
We have grown from 3 FTEs to 25 since 2002 and now turnover £1.5 million. We have managed the challenges of expansion in the North East and successfully built high quality partnerships with our stakeholders.
We believe we have been highly successful in our objectives to date as evidenced by our successful bid to the Energy Saving Trust to bring a pilot Sustainable Energy Network to the North East region, extending the contract to 2011 and by our successful management of EEC schemes drawing down significant funds from Utilities into the region.
Our strategic milestones since incorporation are as follows:
2002
- Incorporated by National Energy Action and Stockton Borough Council as a non – profit private company limited by guarantee.
- Employed three people
- Delivered the Energy Efficiency Advice Centre, and the Local Authority Support Programme for the Energy Saving Trust

- Moved to larger office accommodation at 18b Manor Way and invested in ICT equipment and energy saving measures incorporated into our office.

2007
- Expanded office facilities by expanding to 18c Manor Way. Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre becomes main stream and rollout commences. Commission Durham Business School to assist in the preparation of our Strategic plan for 2008 – 2013.
Present
TADEA has won the contract to deliver Energy Saving Trust advice centre in the North East for next 3 – 5 years. We are currently supporting the Energy Saving Trust in their roll out of the Energy Saving Trust advice centre through the expertise of our employees.
We have reorganised our company structure appointing a Business Development Manager and a Business Support Manager. Phil Hughes TADEA Chairman has been appointed to Executive Chairman.
We are pursuing market development opportunities throughout the North of England through the roll – out of the Energy Saving Trust advice centre and looking to maximise the effectiveness of our current core business of insulation scheme management, non-domestic energy audits, quality inspections, gas monitoring and consultancy.
We have set up a unique regional Home Insulation Partnership (NEHIP) to take forward a single coordinated campaign to insulate every home in the North East. This campaign has the backing of the North East Housing Board, the National Insulation Association and MEP Fiona Hall. We have invested some of our accrued financial resources into the campaign through employing a project officer for the partnership. The campaign is being replicated across the country.
We are launching our new service to provide Energy Performance certificates for domestic and non-domestic buildings.
The Future of Our Business
TADEA has acknowledged that as a company their short term mission has been achieved. Looking to the future we commissioned Durham Business School to undertake a strategic review of the company and the business environment in which we operate. Through this study we have identified key areas of strategic development that will take our company to the next level of organisational development, helping us to achieve our new mission whilst maintaining our culture and non profit status.
Within the external business environment we recognize that economic forces will make the adaptation of low carbon technologies more viable in the near future. As a company we want to position ourselves at the forefront of low carbon technology adoption. We intend to invest our resource in the future to develop the market and supply chain for new products and make it simpler, easier and cheaper for citizens to action.
Latest Project
With the introduction of CERT TADEA are currently in discussions with Utility Companies to finalise a new insulation scheme available anywhere in the North East region and we will work with local authorities to maximise uptake in their areas where it presents a best value option.
