Improving sustainability to improve health
Sustainability isn’t only about saving money, protecting the environment and reducing carbon emissions. One of tadea’s primary project areas is linked to health initiatives.
Projects include encouraging people to keep warm and stay healthy rather than suffer the debilitating effects of the cold. A key priority is a reduction in fuel poverty where the North East has some of the highest levels nationally. Vulnerable people often face a stark choice between eating or heating.
tadea are involved in a number of projects to assist in the reduction of fuel poverty including:
- County Durham Healthy Homes Partnership
- Hotspots
- Energy on prescription
What Next?
We’re so pleased with the success of the County Durham Healthy Homes Partnership that we hope to initiate similar projects in other Primary Care Trusts so more people can benefit from tadea’s expertise. We are also actively looking at the impacts lack of warmth has on childhood health and education.
