EVPV - Electric vehicle solar photovoltaic
What is EVPV?
EVPV is a pioneering infrastructure project whereby solar photovoltaic (PV) panels are installed to offset the electricity demand created when charging electric vehicles.
This project came about due to concerns surrounding the sources of energy being used to charge electric vehicles: for example, if fossil fuels are used to generate the electricity they require, the potential environmental benefits of electric vehicles are reduced.
EVPV alleviates this issue by harnessing the natural power of the sun to deliver a zero ‘well to wheel’ CO2 figure.
At least five such sites are to be installed in the North East before the end of March 2012, and plans for over 900 sites are currently being drawn up.
How does EVPV work?
It is simple: tadea can provide free solar photovoltaic panels and electric car charger installations on designated premises. This is subject to suitability, planning and distribution network approvals.
Hosting an EVPV site offers the following benefits:
-
Save energy costs
-
Reduce carbon emissions
-
Positive reputation for the host
-
Create valuable partnerships
-
Raises awareness of electric vehicles
-
Provides employment opportunities
-
Deliver best practice
tadea will visit the site and assess the suitability of the location for the installations. We can cover the costs and risks of installation and maintenance in return for the tariff revenues.
Who can be an EVPV project partner?
We will install on suitable public buildings, commercial premises and other viable premises. Typically, we could install between 7.35 – 49kWh of solar photovoltaic panels on these premises depending on the number of charging posts requested.
